Week 13, post 1

1. In my search for similar businesses, I found it difficult to find much in the way of private/small business owner type baseball card shops/businesses.  I do think they are something of a dying breed, given the online availability and easy access to card shopping and collecting.   I did not find advertising, despite actively looking, so I would say the advertising efforts are lacking! 2. The online presence that I did find was largely card production companies, or mainstream hobby stores.  For those businesses there advertising was catchy, colorful.  Oftentimes the card companies will promote pre-sales of new products coming out, creating the urge to pre-order to avoid missing out.  This is a great strategy of creating urgency which gets the consumer to buy...even when there is no product available! 3. Week 10, post 2

Categories are a great way to keep your blogs organized and cohesive.  For our baseball card trading business, I would use the categories of "baseball", "collecting", "trading" and "baseball cards" as the major categories.  Using categories helps to keep your content focused to ensure that your posts are things that your audience will want to read. When you provide your readers with content that interests them, you increase your chance of the viewer sharing your posts with others and increasing your views. Week 10, post 1

Using a blog for your business is a great way to increase traffic to your website and get your name and product out there.  People search the internet all day everyday for information and answers to questions they have.  Just yesterday I googled how to change the battery in my car key fob.  That search lead me to a blog, several you tube videos, and auto dealership websites that provide that service.  I was able to watch an instructional video, read about alternative options to doing it myself and even ran across a tip to use a silicone cover (sold on amazon) after putting the key back together to help ensure the key stays securely put back together.  I were a "car person"  that blog would've gained a new follower in me.  This is a great example of how blogs can reach people and increase the volume of traffic to your business.
